On the afternoon of October 29th in Beijing, the Provincial Government of Zhejiang and the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a framework cooperation agreement on the development of Zhejiang Lab. Yuan Jiajun (Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress) and Bai Chunli (President and CPC Secretary of CAS) gave speeches at the signing ceremony. Zheng Shanjie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Governor of Zhejiang, also attended the ceremony.

Yuan expressed his gratitude to CAS for its continuous support to Zhejiang. He said that as the top institution of natural sciences in China, CAS has cooperated with Zhejiang for more than 20 years, yielding fruitful results. Zhejiang Lab is a major tech innovation platform for the Zhejiang Provincial Government and the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee to pursue innovation-driven development. Based on previous cooperation, the two sides will work together to develop Zhejiang Lab, opening a new chapter for future cooperation. Yuan hopes that the two sides will act together to create abundant and significant achievements as soon as possible, accelerating the establishment of major platforms and projects, improving cooperation mechanisms, enhancing policy and financial support, and building a world-leading research team.

Bai said that as a supporting organization for Zhejiang Lab, CAS will fully facilitate the development of Zhejiang Lab by leveraging the technological, organizational, and talent strengths of CAS in the fields of intelligent computing and intelligent perception, as well as by enhancing its top-level planning and research team development. In addition, CAS will take this opportunity for cooperation as a new point to promote a new round of strategic cooperation with Zhejiang. According to the agreement, the two sides will share their resources and leverage their mutual advantages to closely work together for mutual benefits and win-win results. By jointly developing Zhejiang Lab, they will focus on innovative research in the field of intelligent computing and create an outstanding technological team in this field.

 Zhejiang Vice Governor Gao Xingfu and CAS Vice President Li Shushen signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides. Zhejiang Lab President Zhu Shiqiang attended the signing ceremony.
