On June 12, 2024, Zhejiang Lab (ZJ Lab) signed a cooperation framework agreement with Hangzhou City University. TONG Guili, Secretary of the Party Group of the Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province and Secretary of the Party Committee of ZJ Lab; WANG Jian, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of ZJ Lab; HONG Qinghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou City University; and YANG Bo, Vice President (in charge of administration) and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou City University, attended the signing ceremony.

Under the agreement, the two sides will, based on the principle of "mutual benefits, complementary advantages and win-win cooperation", launch all-round, wide-ranging, in-depth and multi-form cooperation by leveraging their strengths in intelligent computing and new materials to conduct research on how new materials R&D is empowered with intelligent computing, and working together towards the development of key technologies in related fields and the design and verification of "AI+" new materials.

ZJ Lab is a major scientific and technological (S&T) innovation platform initiated by the CPC Provincial Committee and Provincial Government of Zhejiang to implement the innovation-driven development strategy. Since its inception, ZJ Lab has envisioned building China's strategic scientific and technological strength, which has laid a sound foundation for long-term cooperation with Hangzhou City University. The signing of this contract is a significant step for both sides to leverage new materials R&D as an effective means to serve Zhejiang's "315" S&T innovation system and "415X" advanced manufacturing clusters with the new opportunities generated by the "AI+" strategy, effectively supporting the three-in-one integration of "education, science and technology, and talents".

Both sides indicated that they will take the signing of this strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to focus their attention on new materials R&D, and promote integrated innovation through collaboration driven by major research tasks to pursue extensive consultation, joint contribution, shared benefits and common development in terms of technological breakthrough, project application, talent cultivation, and transformation of scientific achievements. They will also make concerted efforts to achieve early, more and substantial results, so as to support the establishment of the "new materials" research base in Zhejiang Province, enabling the province to pioneer and write a new chapter in advancing Chinese modernization.

YUAN Jixin, Vice President of ZJ Lab, ZHAO Zhifeng, Chief Engineer of ZJ Lab, and LIU Wenxian, member of the Party Committee of ZJ Lab; ZHANG Deping, Vice President of Hangzhou City University, and YE Guifang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou City University, attended the ceremony. Representatives from the Research Center for New Materials Computing and relevant departments of ZJ Lab, as well as the School Office, Development and Planning Office, Human Resources Office, Graduate Student Office, Academic Affairs Office, Research Office and Local Cooperation Office of Hangzhou City University, also attended the event.
