Part 1: About Zhejiang Lab

A new R&D institution aiming at "building strategic scientific and technological strengths".

Established on September 6, 2017, Zhejiang Lab, located in the beautiful international metropolitan Hangzhou, is a major scientific and technological innovation platform for the CPC Provincial Committee and Provincial Government of Zhejiang to implement the innovation-driven development strategy and explore the new path to motivate national resources. The Lab, with profound capital, complete facilities and an excellent environment, occupies an area of 90.53 hectares and is jointly established by the renowned university, Zhejiang University and famous innovative enterprise. It fully integrates the innovative advantages of the top university and leading enterprises, and attracts both domestic and foreign quality innovative resources to form the innovation network. It has now become one of China's top research institutions.

Focusing on five major areas of scientific research, i.e., intelligent sensing, AI, intelligent network, intelligent computing and intelligent systems, the Lab mainly undertakes fundamental frontier research, key technological breakthroughs and core system R&D. As of now, the Lab has in total 4,200 talents, with over 1,000 high-level talents, of which research doctors accounted for 93%, and has formed a high-level, international, specialized and cross-disciplinary team of innovation.

In the coming five years, the Lab will strive to achieve a batch of original results with significant international influence, and promote the building of a world-class research and experiment center for intelligent sensing, a world-class AI innovation center, a world-class research center for intelligent science and technology, and a world-leading base for fundamental research and innovation of intelligent computing.
