Overview

Located in Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou Plain in the north of Zhejiang and the south end of the Grand Canal from Beijing to Hangzhou, Yuhang is in the center of Yangtze River Delta. As the cradle land of Liangzhu Culture, which is often regarded as the "Dawn of Chinese Civilization", it is often called "hometown of fish and rice, house of silk, garden of flowers and fruits and land of multiple cultures".

As a sacred land of the Chinese civilization, Yuhang District embraces the over 5000-year Liangzhu Culture, 2000-year Canal Culture and 1000-year Jingshan Zen Tea Culture.

Yuhang is an eco-friendly residential area consisting of mountains(40%), inland waters(10%) and farmlands(50%). Yuhang is a popular destination for leisure and tourism in China, in that it offers an array of scenic spots and cultural landscapes including the 5A-level Xixi National Wetland, Park Hongyuan, one of the top three scenic spots in south of Yangtze River for plum blossoms-chaoshan Mountain, Jingshan Mountain for Buddhist Tea, Tangqi ancient town, Shuangxi Drifting Park, etc.

The Hub of Innovation

Yuhang serves as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship of the region. It is the home of one of the four "Future Sci-tech Cities" in China and one of the first national demonstration bases of innovation and entrepreneurship -- Hangzhou Future-Sci Tech City, a national development zone – Yuhang Economic and Technological Development Zone and many other industrial platforms for innovation and entrepreneurship including Liangzhu New City, Dream Town, Artificial Intelligence Town, etc. Yuhang stands out as a leading player in digital economy. In 2023, Yuhang achieved a value added of 199.85 billion yuan in core industries of the digital economy, increasing by 11.9%, ranking first in Zhejiang Province.

Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City

Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City located in the south of Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations. It was founded in 2011 with an overall planning area of 123.1 square kilometers and a key construction area of 49.5 square kilometers. Since its establishment, Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City has always adhered to the strategy of talent-led, innovation-driven and industry-and-city integrated development and the service concept of "government responsible for sunshine and rain, and enterprises are responsible for thriving". 

In order to achieve the overall goal of economic take-off of Hangzhou City West and implement the concept of "one city, three places and three centers", we have built innovative platforms such as Dream Town, Artificial Intelligence Town, 5G Innovation Park and Kunpeng Enterprise Park, launched innovative institutions such as Zhejiang Lab and Alibaba DAMO Academy. By promoting the construction of future science and technology sources, future leading territory and future urban model, core leading industries such as digital economy and bioeconomy have been formed, and the main indicators have also achieved steady and rapid growth. From 2011 to 2023, the total population increased from 60 000 to 140 500, and the regional GDP reached 293.643 billion yuan in 2023.
