PhD Students From the Faculty of Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Successfully Completed Research Internship Program at Zhejiang Lab
Date: 2022-09-12
In early June 2022, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Faculty of Engineering nominated two PhD students, GU Songyun and TANG Ruijie, to come to Zhejiang Lab for a three-month summer internship. Their supervisors are from Research Center for Intelligent Chips and Devices and Research Center for Intelligent Robotics respectively.
Here are some of their experience sharing for the internship.
"It has been a great opportunity to do research in Zhejiang Lab. During my stay at Research Center for Intelligent Chips and Devices, I was surrounded by all kinds of custom-designed laser nanofabrication systems, which were almost ready to be industrialized. As an optical engineer myself, I was really impressed by the creative works going on here. And I hope my short visit could be a start for future collaborations. Zhejiang Lab also impressed me in other aspects, such as its environment, campus management, and its blueprint for development. The lab is continuously bettering the working condition for its employees and broadening the research scope towards a more intelligent future."

"I am currently working in the Research Center for Intelligent Robotics. Zhejiang Lab provided good working environment, hardware facilities, and living conditions. There are tremendous innovative research projects for students to take part in. Specifically, we focus on the motion planning of robots and depending on the cloud platform to execute tasks. I will use my rest of the time to focus on the implementation of AI algorithm."

Zhejiang Lab and CUHK signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement in 2021 to spearhead joint research projects in the field of intelligent sensing, intelligent robotics, intelligent networks, and fintech. In 2022, the two sides joined hands to launch a new research internship program in order to strengthen collaboration and to provide CUHK students with valuable internship opportunities in well-known research institutions in Mainland.
