On April 14, ZJ Lab held a group discussion for some newly-appointed heads of departments and institutes (centers). ZHU Shiqiang, President of ZJ Lab, summoned the group discussion and put forward detailed job requirements for the newly-appointed heads of 17 departments and institutes (centers), including the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Facility Support, the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the Research Center for Intelligent Sensing. XIA Chunsheng, Vice President of ZJ lab, briefed on the clean and honest policy and integrity. CHEN Wei, Assistant President, announced the letter of appointment.
During the discussion, some newly-appointed department heads said they would always keep their original aspiration and mission in mind, formulate clear goals and work plans, follow the rules and regulations, and take fast yet steady steps when forging ahead. They will work hard to increase their strategic awareness, take long-term and strategic perspectives, and improve science-based decision-making ability. Furthermore, they will continue to hone their professional skills, and strengthen all-around capacities and the capacities for delivering results to make a greater contribution to the high-level development of the Lab.
ZHU Shiqiang said that the appointment of department heads this time had taken multiple forms, including promotion within departments, promotion across departments, and swapping of heads between research centers and functional departments. He hoped that through the innovative cultivation model of department heads and experts, the new appointees will gain experience in multiple posts and fields, so as to improve their capacities and build a sound organizational and personnel basis for China's strategic scientific and technological strength.
ZHU Shiqiang put forward the job requirements for the newly-appointed department heads, i.e., "be willing and able to deliver good results and refrain from wrongdoing." He stressed that, "be willing to" means to grasp the opportunities they can get from the Lab, adapt themselves to new posts and roles, take new tasks and fulfill new duties with a sense of responsibility, perseverance and poise. "Be able to" means to be diligent and thoughtful at work and improve their skills. They should comply with the requirements of "Eight Skills", "Five Outstandings" and "Seven Capacities" and strengthen their abilities for serving the overall interests, reflecting on past experience, and building the awareness of self-cultivation. "Deliver good results" means to make every effort to achieve concrete results in the spirit of perseverance. After setting their goals, they need to work perseveringly, just like keep hammering until the nails are driven into the right place. "Refrain from wrongdoing" means not to commit prohibited acts or step into the minefield, be incorruptible, self-disciplined and on guard against wrongdoing, and always do their jobs with vigilance and respect.
