Space computing is carrying AI into deep space. As satellites evolve from mere data collectors to platforms hosting on-orbit computing, satellite networking, and deployed AI models, an open and shared space computing infrastructure is redefining our paradigms of production, daily life and scientific research.
On April 7, the "Olive Leaf Initiative · 2026 Global Scientific Payload and Intelligent Application Competition" was officially launched. This is an invitation from the era of space computing, and a bond connecting Earth and orbit, dreams and reality. Whether you are a frontline researcher or an aspiring young student gazing at the sky, the Olive Leaf Initiative is ready to provide you with computing power, data, models, and satellites, enabling your ideas to soar into space.

Olive Leaf Initiative
The "Olive Leaf Initiative" is China's first non-profit, global open and shared cooperation platform for space science experiment platforms. Embracing the vision of "Openness, Inclusiveness and Sustainability" and the mission of "Sharing Space Resources and Practicing Open Science", it is committed to breaking down resource barriers for global participation in space research.
Aligned with UNESCO's International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033), the Olive Leaf Initiative is a collaborative effort led by Zhejiang Lab, Xiong'an New Area Science Park, Beijing LandSpace Hong Qing Technology Co., Ltd and other collaborators. By pooling key space technologies, AI capabilities, and on-orbit resources from multiple parties, it issues a global open call to scientists, youth students, and innovators for proposals of space science payloads and intelligent applications. The program aims to leverage the open and shared resource advantages of the Three-Body Computing Constellation as a space computing infrastructure, revolutionize the paradigm of scientific research in space, and advance the development and inclusive adoption of space AI technologies.
We plan to launch 1 to 2 non-profit scientific experiment satellites annually, which provide open access for payload hosting and validation. All resulting data will be made openly accessible worldwide, lowering barriers to space research and advancing the progress and inclusive benefit of science and technology.
2026 Global Scientific Payload and Intelligent Application Competition
As one of the core mechanisms of the "Olive Leaf Initiative", the 2026 Global Scientific Payload and Intelligent Application Competition will kick off first.
This competition aims to identify the most promising space experiments and applications by opening up satellite payload space, data, and computing resources, and jointly implement open science practice.
Eligibility:
The competition is open to the world, with no restrictions on nationality, age, or institutional background. Participants include, but are not limited to: individuals, teams, universities, research institutes, enterprises, social organizations, and cross-institutional consortia, etc.
Tracks:
The competition features two professional tracks: the "Scientific Payload Innovation Track" and the "Space Intelligent Application Track". Additionally, it introduces the "Young Eagles Program", a special track designed to inspire space science imagination among teenagers.
Priority Areas:
Space Science Exploration
Earth Observation Applications
Space Information and Navigation Technology
New Aerospace Materials and Components
Selected Entitlements:
Priority access to subsequent in-orbit verification opportunities; expert guidance, engineering consultation, and technical demonstration; data/platform resources; showcase opportunities and ecosystem collaboration, etc.
