On March 27, Shao Jianda, Director of the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited Zhejiang Lab with his team. Zhejiang Lab’s President Zhu Shiqiang and Vice President Bao Hujun attended the meeting.
Bao Hujun first introduced the Lab’s founding background, systems and mechanisms, management structure, and development plans, as well as the construction progress of the Lab’s new campus. In particular, he introduced the Lab’s research programs, facilities and platforms, and specific research plans related to intelligent computing. He said that the Lab would bring together the strengths of different research organizations, exploring flexible and diversified cooperation models to create a platform for mutual development.
Shao Jianda gave a detailed introduction to the research interests and plans of SIOM. He hoped that, through joint projects targeting China’s major applied research programs, the two sides could enhance research cooperation and talent sharing in specialized areas, exploring effective interaction models in aspects such as cooperation mechanism, talent exchange, and talent support.
At the meeting, President Zhu Shiqiang said that ever since Zhejiang Lab’s establishment, the Lab has been focusing its efforts on major national needs, aiming at national strategies to identify its foothold, and striving for significant breakthroughs in basic research fields. In China, SIOM has leading research strengths in the field of optics, which can be closely linked with Zhejiang Lab’s research interest in intelligent perception. He hoped that the two sides would act more quickly to determine the starting point of cooperation and take the cooperation forward.
