On the afternoon of November 20, Yuan Jiajun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Governor of Zhejiang Province, and Chairman of the Zhejiang Lab Supervisory Board, visitd Zhejiang Lab to learn about the Lab’s tech innovation efforts and talent development policies. He also visited the researchers at the Lab.
Governor Yuan first examined the ongoing construction of the apartment complex for the Lab’s senior scientists. With workers currently focusing on the construction of the facade and supporting facilities, the overall project is expected to be completed before the Spring Festival of 2020. In the show room on the third floor, Yuan examined the decoration quality and progress. He said that building apartments for talent is a meaningful policy to further improve the environment for talent development, helping us to attract, keep, and make good use of talent. We should enhance our services and support for talent to ensure that they can develop their careers here without being bothered, including building a world-class international school, hospital, and residential community, as well as solving major problems regarding health care, social security, child education, household registration, housing, and credential application for our talent. This is especially true for our talent recruited from overseas.
Governor Yuan showed his full appreciation for the achievements the Lab has made in the past two years. He said, Zhejiang Lab is a significant platform for Zhejiang province to implement its innovation-driven development strategy, accelerate its process of becoming a province with outstanding innovation abilities, and fully develop its digital economy “No. 1 Project”. By further focusing on the goals of building a national laboratory and a tech innovation hub for Internet Plus, we should concentrate our strengths to build large scientific facilities, find the solutions to critical technical problems, enhance our capacity for original innovation, and make several remarkable achievements closely connected with China’s strategic needs as soon as possible. In addition, we need to make great efforts to innovate our talent development system and mechanism, so that we can gather a group of high-level science professionals who are dedicated to their science career at our lab. We also need to accelerate the development of a collaborative innovation system, endeavoring to overcome the technical problems encountered by relevant industries and exploring new ways to achieve the in-depth integration of industry, university, research, and application.
